"The Grand Canyon State"

Arizona, the 48th state, is located in the southwest region of the United States. It was founded on February 14, 1912. Home to many wonderful things and places, Arizona also borders with New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, California, and Mexico.

Arizona's state nickname is "The Grand Canyon State" or the "The Copper State".

Arizona is home to the great "Grand Canyon". Founded and reserved as a national monument by President Theodore Roosevelt on January 11, 1908, its popular tourist attractions are hiking, rafting, running, and helicopter tours.

(This particular part of the Grand Canyon is called the "Horseshoe Bend"

It is rare for tornadoes and hurricanes to occur in Arizona. Because of its high altitude than the lower desert, it has an appreciably cooler climate, with cold winters and mild summers.

Arizona's state bird is the Cactus Wren. They are found in deserts and arid foothills that have cactus, yucca, and other types of desert scrub.
Arizona's national football team are the "Arizona Cardinals".  The team's head coach is Bruce Arians and the team's mascot is "The Big Red".

The state's flower is the saguaro cactus blossom. In the summer, the flowers become red-fleshed fruits that are enjoyed by the local bird population.
